CAVE-AYUMIGALLERYでは3月28日(土) に、オランダよりアーティスト、ペトラ・ノ ードカンプを迎え、作品上映会を開催いたします。 代表作 “La Madre, il Figlio e l'Architetto (The Mother, the Son and the Architect)”を含む 4 本の短編映画を上映いたします。

ペトラ・ノードカンプは1967年生まれ、アムステルダム在住。建築や都市環境についての認識に、経験や記憶、映画、夢までもがどのように影響を及ぼしているのかを写真、映像、インスタレーションの分野で探求しています。

La Madre, il Figlio e l'Architetto (The Mother, the Son and the Architect)は1968年の地震で崩壊し、1980年に再建されたシチリアの町、ジベッリーナにある球体形の教会についての短編映画です。ノードカンプは偶然この教会に出会い、その驚くべきデザインに惹き付けられますが、さらにこの教会がイタリアの建築家ルドヴィコ・クアロニによって設計されていることを発見したとき、この建物への興味をさらに強めました。建築家はノードカンプと1990年代に短い恋愛関係にあったルドヴィコ・エミリオの父であり、エミリオは2001年に自身の母親を殺していました。この作品はエミリオがその行為に至った引き金について辿りますが、とくにこの15年前の出会いによって建物の建築認識がどのように色付けされるかを明らかにしたいと考えました。

上映会終了後に、作家を囲み懇親会を行います。

ペトラ・ノードカンプ
2012年、初めて制作した短編映画「The Mother, the Son and the Architect」がフォーム 写真美術館(アムステルダム)で上映され、その後、国内外の映像祭や展覧会に招かれる。2014年、ソロモン・R・グッゲンハイム財団(ニューヨーク)より依頼を受け、イタリア の画家でもあり彫刻家、アルベルト・ブッリ(1915-1995)によって作られた Cretto di Gibellina(同地を襲った大地震後の1968年、ブッリによって制作されたランドアート) をテーマにした短編映像「Il Grande Cretto di Gibellina」を発表。同作品は、グッゲンハ イム美術館(ニューヨーク)、K21(デュッセルドルフ)、MAXXI(ローマ)、ポンピドゥセ ンター (パリ)を巡回して上映した。2017 年に発表した「When you return I'll be living by the waterside」は、ロッテルダム国際映画祭で上映の後、ヴェネツィアで同年開催され た Move Cine Arte で Best Form 賞を受賞する。近年に、MAXXI より依頼されたインスタ レーション作品「Fragile-Handle with Care」がある。現在、アーツイニシアティヴトウキ ョウ[AIT/エイト]のレジデンスプログラムにより東京に滞在している。

CAVE-AYUMIGALLERY is pleased to announce the film screening by Petra Noordkamp on Saturday 28 March, “La Madre, il Figlio e l'Architetto (The Mother, the Son and the Architect)”and other 3 short films.

Dutch artist Petra Noordkamp (1967) lives and works in Amsterdam. She photographs and makes short films in which she explores the influence of experiences, memories, movies and dreams on the perception of architecture and the urban environment.

La Madre, il Figlio e l'Architetto (The Mother, the Son and the Architect) is about a spherical church in Gibellina. Noordkamp came across this church by chance and became intrigued by its remarkable design. Her fascination with this building intensified when she discovered that this church was designed by the Italian architect Ludovico Quaroni. He was the father of Emilio Quaroni, a young man with whom Noordkamp had a brief relationship in the 1990s. In 2001 Emilio killed his mother. This film traces Noordkamp’s investigation into what prompted Emilio to commit this act, but she particularly wants to reveal how the architectural perception of a building is tinted by an encounter 15 years earlier.

In 2012, her first short film The Mother, the Son and the Architect was shown in an exhibition of her work at Foam in Amsterdam and was selected for various Dutch and international film festivals and exhibitions. She was an artist-in-residence at the American Academy in Rome in 2013. In 2014 the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York commissioned her to make a short film about the Land Art work and memorial Il Grande Cretto di Gibellina by the Italian artist Alberto Burri. This film was among others screened at the Guggenheim in New York, K21 in Dusseldorf, MAXXI in Rome and Centre Pompidou in Paris. Her film When you return I'll be living by the waterside (2017) had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2018 and it won the Move Cine Arch Award for best form in Venice. Her latest installation Fragile-Handle with Care was a commission from MAXXI National Museum of Contemporary Art and Architecture in Rome, for the Terre in Movimento project. Currently, she is in Japan as an artist in residency at the AIT, the Art Initiative Tokyo.
